| Find a word that rhymes with.... dice game |
2. Explain to your child that you are going to take turns at rolling the dice and then saying a word which rhymes with the chosen picture. 3. Roll the dice - the number will indicate the first picture in the game. 4. Think of a word that rhymes with this picture. Once you have done this, place a counter or a sticker on the word. 4. Keep playing until one line is completely full. 5. If your child is finding it challenging to think of word, you could given them a choice, e.g. 'does car or hat rhyme with cat?' You could also use an alphabet chart and choose different sounds to see if they make a rhyming word.

| Rhyming words - Find it game | 1. Print out the find it game. Cut out the game cards. 2. Place the game cards face down in a pile in front of you and your child. 3. Explain to your child that you are going to turn over a card and you both have to hunt for a word that rhymes with your chosen picture. 4. The first person to spot a rhyming, shouts out the name using the target sound. The player then keeps the card. 5. The next card is turned and you try to find the picture shown. 6. The game ends when all the cards have been used. The winner is the person with the most cards. 7. If your child is finding it hard to think of rhyming words, when you turn the card over, before you search for the pictures, together you could make a list of words that rhyme and then hunt for the pictures. |
