Jumping frogs

Something to represent 'lily pads' - sheets of paper, hoops, mats;

List of simple sentences (optional).

  1. Tell the children they are going to be jumping frogs. The frogs do one jump for every words they hear.
  2. Practise by saying a single word and having them do one jump.
  3. Move onto two word phrases and then onto longer sentences.

You may need to help them understand they are listening for words not phonemes.
