To Action pictures Place pictures	Use action and place pictures, make up stories about where you or someone else is going and how to get there. E.g. 'He's running to the park', 'he's crawling to school'.	When the children are confident with this, move on to use two prepositions, e.g. 'in' and 'to'.
Under Pictures of furniture and objects	Play a version of 'I spy': One person puts an object under furniture or another object, so that it can only just be seen. Another child says e.g. 'I spy the book under the table'.	You can use real objects for this. When the children are confident with this, move on to use two prepositions, e.g. 'on' and 'under'.
Behind, Next To, In Front Pictures of people Outline of a bus / train / classroom Pictures of different vehicles	1. Have the children take turns putting the people in the bus / train / class in a particular order, e.g. 'put the girl behind the baby. 2. Use the pictures of vehicles to make a traffic jam. Take it in turns to give instructions e.g. 'put the car next to the lorry.'
All Together An interesting object to use as 'treasure'	1. Either hide the 'treasure' yourself, or give one child instructions on where to hide it, e.g. 'Hide it on the shelf under the box.' 2. One other person looks for it, while the other children give him/her instructions of where to look. No pointing is allowed! 3. Vary where you hide the treasure so that you use different positional language.
