Description:
These activities focus on using a target sound in a single word. Your target sound may be at the beginning of the word, e.g. 's' in 'sun', or in the middle of a word, e.g. 's' in 'glasses', or at the end of a word, e.g. 's' in 'horse'.

| Build a picture dice game - Printable build a picture resouces - different themes are available - A dice - Words containing your child's target sound - printable pictures are available here | 1. Cut out a set of 6 pictures - each player should be collecting a set of 6 pictures to make a bigger picture. If there are 2 players, you could have 2 pictures to build each. 2. Lay the picture pieces out in front of you and make a pile of target word cards. 3. Each player takes a turn to choose a word card and say the target sound. 4. After this, roll the dice and collect the corresponding piece for the number you rolled. 5. If you roll a duplicate number, you have to wait until your next turn to try again. 6. | Sound Dice Race - Sound dice race for the sound you are working on - click here to print - A dice - Counters/stickers | 1. Print out the sound dice race sheet. 2. Explain to your child that you are going to roll the dice and say the word with the picture next to the number rolled. 3. Once you have said the word, you cover that picture with a counter or sticker and the next person takes a turn. 4. | Find it! game | 1. Print out the find it game for your target sound. Cut out the game cards. 2. Place the game cards face down in a pile in front of you and your child. 3. Explain to your child that you are going to turn over a card and you both have to hunt for the item in the larger picture. All the pictures have the same target sound. 4. The first person to spot the picture, shouts out the name using the target sound. The player then keeps the card. 5. The next card is turned and you try to find the picture shown. 6. The game ends when all the cards have been used. Say the word which you land on, practising your child's target sound. 5.
